A steam train with the locomotive Šlechtična (The Noble) will run along the Pilsen Region tracks during the Liberation Festival in Pilsen.
During the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of West Bohemia, a steam train will appear on the tracks of some Pilsen lines. The rides will be led by the historic steam locomotive 475.111, nicknamed Šlechtična (The Noble). The Pilsen Region prepared the rides in cooperation with the Iron Monument Club.
A flat car will be attached to the train set, and on it, there will be military equipment from that time. Passengers will ride in the train and participate in the program with soldiers in historical uniforms.
The following rides are planned:
May 1: a round trip through the whole region Plzeň - Domažlice - Klatovy - Sušice - Horažďovice - Nepomuk - Plzeň3 and 4 May: rides around Pilsen (rides to Blovice, Kařízek, Kozolupy, Mirošov, Plas, Přeštice and Stod are planned).
The locomotive 475.111 Šlechtična (The Noble) was built in 1947 by Škoda Plzeň and was used almost immediately on the Prague-Plzeň-Cheb fast trains. It is one of the most important steam locomotives in Czechoslovakia. It was used regularly for 30 years, until 1977.
If it is dry and there is a risk of fire, a diesel train will replace the steam train.
