Czech Radio Pilsen celebrates 80 years

Melody Makers are engaged in the authentic interpretation of popular music of the early and peak swing period from the early 1920s to the early 1940s. The varied repertoire includes attractive pieces from a wide genre spectrum, sweet and hot, from Hollywood musicals to top swing band numbers. The ensemble uses authentic instruments, takes a reverent approach to reconstructing authentic arrangements, and through systematic study and mastery of period performance practices produces unexpected, enchanting results in the authentic sound we know from period recordings and films.

Vojtěch Havelka, a singer, actor and guitarist who performs alongside his father as a soloist in the jazz orchestra Melody Makers, has worked as an actor in the ABC Theatre, the Summer Scene of the Kampa Museum and the Radek Brzobohatý Theatre. He is a proud continuation of his family's passion for jazz and swing.
