The City of Pilsen commemorated the Veterans Day at the Homolka memorial
This day is dedicated to the memory of all war veterans, including modern ones. It is celebrated worldwide as Veterans Day or Remembrance Day. Since November 2001, this important day has also been commemorated in the Czech Republic.
Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.
On that day in 1918 a train truce between the Allies and Germany was signed in a train car in Le Francport near the northern French city of Compiègne, ending the fighting of the First World War on the Western Front.
The main signatories of the armistice were Allied Commander Marshal Ferdinand Foch and German Deputy Matthias Erzberger.
