Pilsen is preparing a special online program for the 75th Anniversary of the liberation by the US military
Although the ongoing government measure taken against the coronovirus epidemic will not allow to hold the traditional Liberation Festival, the city of Pilsen is preparing a special online program to mark the 75th anniversary of the crucial days of early May 1945, when General Patton’s American and Belgian soldiers liberated Pilsen.
The live broadcast will take place on Sunday, May 3, from 11 am. It will offer historical documents, introduce the period military vehicles and gear, present live interviews with people who participate in the organization and program of the Liberation Festival Pilsen on a yearly basis or interesting topics related to the events and fates affected by World War II.
The almost six-hour program also covers the laying of flowers at memorials and, last but not least, a virtual meeting with war veterans. The broadcast will include live music performed by Pilsner Jazz Band. Folk and country music will be presented by Jaroslav Samson Lenk.
Broadcasting is being prepared by the City of Pilsen in cooperation with Studio of Men of few words.
A detailed program will be presented in a few days.
