A part of the Liberation Festival Pilsen will be a unique cultural program, which will be opened on Friday, May 4,by the best big band of all time with more than 80 years of history, the legendary American The Count Basie Orchestra. Swing history has been written by this band since the 1930s. He has received 18 Grammy Awards, has visited the largest festivals and music venues around the world. Founder and long-time bandleader was William James „Count“ Basie, who became an American institution personifying majesty and excellence in jazz. Today, the orchestra plays under the trumpeter Scotty Barnhart, a double Grammy Award winner.
The names of the world’s best musicians are related to the orchestra, and many of them started their career with him. These include Lester Young, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Frank Foster, Thad Jones, Joe Williams, and Dennis Rowland.
